How it All Started….
There was a blackout in center city Philadelphia. We were in the labour room sweating bullets as the back-up generators only provided energy to the critical areas of the hospital. Finally we were able to convince the nurses to acquire a fan for us. Sitting there, it finally hit me…. I am going to be a Mommy.
I started to recall several instances of when it would have been great to have a resource for me as a Mommy. Not just a place to read information, but a place to actively discuss with other Mommies ways to do things better or just different options available. With the birth of my son in 2003, as you have all experienced, my whole life changed.
It was truly a paradigm shift from my previous way of thinking, doing and being in this world. The greatest thing that was available was a network of other Mommies to reach out to as needed. It became a virtual network of Mommies just chatting through email.
What we do today….
Now this virtual network has expanded to My Mommy’s Neighborhood (MMN). The last nine years has seen the expansion of Mommies coming together to enlarge our territory by working together in a virtual way. MMN provides support, references and just a listening ear to Mommies. This way of creating a virtual neighborhood will ensure that great women, become great Mommies, that allows the development of our great children.
We invite you to join this neighborhood journey on this blog, Facebook and Twitter. We look forward to welcoming our new Mommies while celebrating the expansion of MMN with our seasoned Mommies. If there are other areas you would like MMN to explore during our discussions, information post or improvements.
Thank You,
Tomika Bryant
