Neighborhood Shopping is so much fun!

It is always a great afternoon when you can support local businesses. Today in honor of Neighborhood Toy Store Day, the kids and I made it a point to visit Lucky Duck toy store in Wayne, Pa. The kids were immediately drawn in by all the bright colors and of course the toys.

 

 

I loved that they were immediately greeted and one of the employees immediately played a game with my son. I think this was a great idea to highlight local stores and some great it’s that don’t get airtime on national television.  It seems that our Christmas list just grew longer.

Am I My Brother’s Keeper?

This entire Penn State scandal has me up in arms. I was already a cautious parent but now I feel the need to go a step further yet I know it could still happen which is what frightens me as child predators have no special look or smell. I have been talking to both of my kids, girl and boy, about this as I constantly encourage them that they can tell me anything. I look in their eyes and I silently wept as I pray that they hear every word as it leaves my mouth.

As an adult, I could not imagine witnessing any transgression with an adult and a child and not take immediate action. Our society has become so numb that we look away and expect someone else to handle it. I realize the incident was reported to several people but no one did anything to help and/or protect any future children.
